Professional Learning
A key role of ACHPER WA is to provide a variety of professional learning activities for our HPE educators, professionals and students. ACHPER WA aims to support our professional community providing quality professional learning which supports the HPE sector, innovating new ideas, methods of delivery and the best in exemplary practice. Our events offer a diverse range of relevant and supportive opportunities through conferences, workshops, seminars and online learning options
ACHPER WA offers a comprehensive suite of professional learning conferences, workshops and events throughout the school year conducted during school terms, both in and out of school hours. Thousands of WA HPE teachers have identified and shared their challenges with us. We have used this knowledge to develop a professional learning program which addresses the key needs of our profession.

ATAR PHYSICAL EDUCATION STUDIES - Notre Dame University
Yr11/12 ATAR – Exercise Physiology: Connecting Energy Systems with training programs, application in invasion games
In this session the presenters will review the syllabus requirements of energy systems and connect with the broad concept of training programs. They will look to compare the linear concepts of energy systems in running events such as the 100m and the marathon with the varied demands experienced in invasion games. Participants will then be asked to apply these concepts into considering the training requirements of these athletes and the role exercise physiology plays in building better athletes.

This is an information session on the P-10 Health and Physical Education curriculum for familiarisation in 2024. The Authority has published the revised Western Australian Health and Physical Education curriculum in light of ACARA’s, version 9 curriculum.
The Authority has worked with Western Australian teachers, school leaders and stakeholders to develop a contemporary curriculum that addresses the needs of a changing community. The Health and Physical Education curriculum will be mandated in 2025, however, educators are invited to learn about changes to the structure and learning area content in this year of familiarisation.
